Accessibility consultancy

You are required by the Disability Discrimination Act to make your web site accessible to everyone, irrespective of their disability.  Legal requirements are only part of the equation; there are many people with varying degrees of disability who may be keen to buy your products and services online if your site allows them to.

Blind and partially sighted users

People with serious visual impairments are likely to use a speech browser which will read the content of a web site to them. There are a number of things you need to do to your site to optimise it for these browsers; most are simply a matter of writing good code.

There are much larger numbers of partially sighted web users who just need a site that is easy to read. In fact everyone over 40 is likely to be losing visual acuity. Basic things like poor contrast and fixed type size can be a significant barrier to large numbers of people.

Other disabled users

Deaf users do not like telephone numbers to be mandatory, users with motor difficulties can have difficulties if forms time out too quickly and dyslexic users have their own set of problems. All of these and other issues can be addressed to a greater or lesser degree when you are looking at the accessibility of your site.

We can offer a series of audits and advise on accessibility issues.
